Common Entrance

The Common Entrance, based on the English National Curriculum, is followed in Years 7 and 8 at the Preparatory School.  The rigour, breadth and depth of the Common Entrance syllabus provides an excellent grounding for all those children moving into Year 9 and then onto their chosen course of study in the later years of secondary school. Indeed, it is the principle set of examinations accepted by top UK independent schools such as Eton or Charterhouse School.

Students are able to sit examination papers in a range of subjects, often provided by the independent school the pupil wishes to enter.

Mount Kelly School Hong Kong benefits from the experience and significant expertise of Mount Kelly UK in delivering the Common Entrance syllabus. Indeed, whilst most students from Mount Kelly Prep graduate to the senior school, some have also gained scholarships to some of the other top independent schools in the country such as Marlborough and Cheltenham Ladies College. This serves as a real illustration of the strength of their curriculum, learning environment and teaching practices, all of which MKSHK will benefit from.
